My main reason for using it is to reduce the time to display for full resolution files on my NAS via my WiFi router. Here is one example of a T-X2 camera JPEG I ran through JPEG mini.Ħ000×4000, reduced to 8.2MB file size with JPEG mini I use JPEGmini standalone with my Fujifilm image files and have not seen any detrimental affects so far. So, JpegMini seems very conservative whan it comes to IQ, and won't degrade an image to show the highest compress rate. While a much less detailed one comes as low as 4.5MB : Typically, such a picture with many fine details outputs to as size as high as 15MB But regardless of the price, it works very well IMO : it is set up so as to maximize IQ and if needed, the files can remain quite large. I didn't use it since I switched to C1P but I'm very happy to see it working now flawlessly with C1P (just add it to a receipe).Īctually, I'm not sure I would re-buy it now, because it is very expensive for what it actually does.

Does it work well on large Fuji JPGs?ĭo they give you any adjustments or any control of the processing, and if so, does this make any difference?Īre their claims of equal image quality with far fewer bytes of file size valid?īack in my LR days, I used to buy a JpegMini Pro licence. If you have used JPEG Mini with Fuji images please let me know your opinions. I've been thinking about buying the standalone application since I don't use Lightroom or Photoshop C1 (or whatever the subscription service is called). I see now on DPR another story about JPEG Mini: If you have used JPEG Mini with Fuji JPGs, and have seen a difference between your best editing and the output of JPEG Mini, I'd really like to know more about it. Some people see no visible differences and one or two see some differences between regular JPG and the output of JPEG Mini.

The advantage I am looking for is something simple that I can use to keep the image quality that I have edited into an image, including resolution (24mp usually but sometimes 96mp) and color and contrast and so on, but give me a smaller JPG file than I get with Photoshop Elements.Īnd, this seems to be exactly what JPEG Mini offers. When I use Photoshop Elements 13 I can select several options for resizing and sharpening and when it comes to saving the result as a JPG, I can select only a "quality" between 1 and 12 with preview so I know how lousy quality level 1 will look, and so on.

Since I use Photoshop Elements 13 for JPG processing I have trouble seeing a need for XnConvert. I looked at XnConvert (thanks for suggesting it) and it appears to be mainly a processing tool. I have FastStone viewer, saw few options for re-saving. If I were considering this program (which I'm not), I would compare its results to what Fast Stone gives you: several types of quality settings, easy to get a target file size, and several algorithms for reduction of pixel dimensions if you want to do that, too.
